Congratulations that your pregnancy test is positive. According to international guidelines you now need to be seen in an Early Pregnancy Clinic for a Consultant Gynaecologist to assess you and help you through the most important first three months of this pregnancy.
How will the Doctor help?
- Check and confirm that the pregnancy sac is growing in the right place in the womb.
- Be reassured that the pregnancy is not located in an area outside the uterus Ectopic pregnancy which can be life threatening. Women with previous ectopic pregnancy and previous c section are at a higher risk.
- Deal with the nausea and vomiting of the pregnancy effectively so that your baby does not suffer because of your dehydration
- Discuss the genetic testing options in a scientific manner to take an informed decision whether you need a pre-invasive testing or not.
- Check the NT measurement of the baby neck.
